When someone likes you,he can add a karma point to you.If he don't like you,can take a point. :)

We really don't go in for the "smite" feature here...it's not nice. That's how the software came, though. Ideally, we'd just have the "exalt" (increase karma) feature. :)

Dani, I'm so sorry, but the old site no longer exists so I'm afraid we won't be able to fulfill your request. You're the first person who has made the request since the old site disappeared, so we haven't actually discussed this among the staff.

Since we don't have the old records, we decided on a bonus 50 posts and 10 Karma if you came form the old site. I have now added these to your total. We still have a list of who was on the old site just not what their post counts or karma was. We can list and save post numbers easily but it is hard to keep track of karma.

Karma is like a little reward system. Look on the left side of your screen toward the very bottom of your own post, and it will say how much karma you have. It said 1 just a moment ago; I've just given you a karma point so now it should say 2. :)

People give each other karma when they've done something nice, said something brilliant or funny, etc. You can't give yourself karma. You can give out 1 karma point per hour by clicking on the exalt button. We discourage use of the smite button, which takes away karma, on the grounds that it's unfriendly. (It came with the board, though, so we're stuck with it.)

You can also get karma from certain contests here. The most prominent of these is the NFA Challenge. The challenge winner gets 35 points, and everyone who submits a story to the challenge gets 10 points. People who create and run challenges also get points.

As you know, NFA is moving its forums to a new site. As of this time, we don't yet have a system like karma, but we are working on getting one added. Once we do, we'll be able to come back to this site and pull the totals over for each of you.

We will add a thread to request the updating of your post count on the new site.
